GULU- From Masaka to Gulu, it’s St Mary’s Secondary School Kitende and Jinja SS in yet another final as the Brookside East Africa Secondary School games climax on Saturday.
Kitende, the 11-time regional champions, eliminated Nakaseke International College 4-3 in a post-match penalty shootout after the 90 minutes of an eventful game ended 1-all at Gulu High School.
Nakaseke had three goals disallowed, a man sent off and the crowd attempted to stop the game over biased refereeing.
Jinja SS were more authoritative in their 2-0 victory over Kenya’s Kakamega with goals from Joel Madondo and Joram Kirya in either half to set up an all-Ugandan final.
When the pair met in Masaka in the national schools’ competition, Jinja SS beat Kitende in a penalty shootout to clinch a first title.
Before the boy’s finals, 2012 girls’ champions Kawempe Muslim will face Wiyeta at Pece Stadium as the nine-day event climaxes in Gulu.
On Friday, Kitende won their 15th netball title in 16 editions, beating Blessed Sacrament Kimanya 41-31.
The basketball boys’ final pits Buddo against defending champion APE Rugunga from Rwanda after the latter beat Kibuli 74-59 to trump an all-Ugandan final.
