KAMPALA. A total of ten judicial officers from the lower Bench, have been promoted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), in a bid to promote the rising of the officers through the judicial career.
The 10 judicial officers who were previously at the rank of Chief Magistrate, have now been promoted to the rank of Deputy Registrar, a promotion that will now see them work in various high courts and appellate courts.
“The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) at its 31st meeting on 25th April 2018, directed that the following judicial officers be offered appointment on promotion as deputy registrars in the courts of judicature,” reads in part a notice from Mr Kagole Kivumbi, the Secretary to the Judiciary.
Those officers promoted from the rank of Chief Magistrate to Deputy Registrar include; Rosemary Ngabirano Bareebe, Flavia Nabakooza, Mary Keitesi Kisakye, Sylvia Nabaggala Mbuga, Moses Anguadia Gabriel and Godfrey Kaweesa, the president of Uganda Judicial Officers’ Association (UJOA).
Mr Festo Nsenga is the only judicial officer promoted from the rank of Assistant Registrar to that of Deputy Registrar.
The other group of promoted officers was from the rank of Senior Principal Grade One to now Acting Chief Magistrate.
They include; Charles Yeteise, Jessica Chemeri and Samuel Kagoda Ntende.
In a related development, the communication by Mr Kagole was that the JSC at its 23rd meeting on 29th November, deferred the confirmation in service of seven magistrates at Grade One level and that communication will be made to each officer as soon as the specific details are obtained by the commission.
They include; Nasuru Magomu, Geoffrey Akena, Esther Nahirya, Maureen Mukoyi and Doreen Ainebabazi.
According to Mr Kagole in his communication, he urged those judicial officers who have not yet been confirmed, to take up this matter urgently given that officers on probation, normally face challenges for either promotion or study leave or transfer with the public service.
