Prof. John Ddumba Ssentamu, the acting Principal of the College of Business and Management Science, is the new Makerere University vice chancellor. He was named to the position yesterday, beating off challenge from Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe.

Prof. Ddumba confirmed to Daily Monitor that he had received the appointment letter. “Yes, it is true, I have been appointed as Vice Chancellor and the letter has just been received at 5pm,” he said on phone.

He replaces Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba who had acted in the position for two years.
