KAMPALA- There will certainly be a Ugandan side in the women’s final of the NSSF-KAVC International later today at Lugogo.

This is after the trio of KAVC, VVC and Ndejje University progressed to the semi-finals of the two-day tournament. The latter will play Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) in today’s semis as the other two Ugandan sides lock horns.

2014 and 2015 champions RRA will certainly not have the backing of the local crowd after they whitewashed Nkumba 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-22) in the quarter finals held in Namboole yesterday.

KAVC, who last won their own tournament in 2008, were 2-3 (25-22, 12-25, 25-18, 22-25, 11-15) winners over a well rested Espoir that progressed to the last eight after earning a walkover against no-shows Aspire in the two-team Pool A.

Their semifinal opponents VVC inflicted a 2-3 (16-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 13-15) loss too on fellow Ugandan side Sport S. It will be an interesting matchup between two sides that believe they had enough preparations ahead of this tournament and therefore cannot come up with any excuses.

Ndejje are certainly the underdog against RRA but will hope to get better of another Rwandan opposition today as they did in a 2-3 (25-23, 18-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-17) quarterfinal win against APR Saturday.
