In Summary

For the next three texts that came in on that phone, my girl would pick up the phone, type something and place it back. Then at some point, the friend stopped whatever she had been looking at on my girl’s phone and resumed the texting on her own phone

I have complained about phone usage in a relationship, and I think I am getting tired of complaining because I realise that things are on a course that is headed towards disaster.

I mean, how do you explain the total lack of privacy in a relationship to the point where she lets her friends reply to my texts. Not just one friend, but which ever friend happens to be nearby.

I am certain your first conclusion is that she was stringing me along. She was not really in love. This was another gig for her.
And I agree with you, there was not that much love in the relationship, and I was ready to forgive and forget all that she put me through, but not this. This was too much, it was bordering on personal Insult. I found out about it much later than I should have.

At some point, I noticed that her texts were not really making sense. I would text her something, and sometimes, the conversation would flow, sometimes it would appear as if there is no continuity in the conversation, like she had no idea what she is talking about.

I found this disturbing, and asked her about it. Then she would say she was distracted and things would fall in line again. Being the forgiving man, I let it go, accepted that my girl was very easily distracted and didn’t make a fuss over it.

Then one day, I caught her red handed. Or rather, I caught her annoying little friends at it. We were out having coffee, when a friend of hers joined us.

We were also passing time, waiting for the movies to start. As they gossiped away, I was busy reading news online. But at some point, I noticed there was a strange thing going on with the girl’s phones.
They kept picking up each other’s phones, and typing on them, then placing them down.

Maybe they were looking at pictures, I do not know. But what gave them away was when this friend picked up her phone, read something, and just handed her phone over to my girl.

She seemed busy doing something on my girl’s phone. My girl read, typed something quickly and placed the phone down. I realised that they were texting with someone.

For the next three texts that came in on that phone, my girl would pick up the phone, type something and place it back. Then at some point, the friend stopped whatever she had been looking at on my girl’s phone and resumed the texting on her own phone.

I thought maybe that was a common friend they were texting through this girl’s phone. But, over time I noticed that this disregard for who owned what phone with dismay.

I realised this must be what happens when my girl claims she is ‘distracted’, or the conversation doesn’t seem to flow.
I got so irritated I couldn’t stop myself from asking them what was going on. They both pretended not know what I was talking about, so I gently explained. My girl was a bit smarter.

She quickly told me that it was a group chat, but I could see the lies written all over the face the other girl.
I stood up, and walked away. Imagine all my private life, the private thoughts I had texted to my girl shared with these brainless friends of hers.

Did she also make them listen in to our phone conversations? How could a person have absolutely no sense of decency, or shame?
