KAMPALA- By eliminating champions Kampala University at the quarterfinals of the Nile Special University Football League, Mubs remained the most successful team of all the four semifinalists.
Mubs coach Charles Ayieko as such believes he knows what it takes to reach another final as his team seeks a record third title.
“We want to try and end the tie as a contest in the first leg because Gulu are a different team away from home,” Ayieko said in the aftermath of the draws.
Mubs eliminated Gulu in the quarterfinals 4-2 on aggregate on their way to the 2014 title but only did so after overturning a 2-0 loss suffered in Gulu.
Mubs will host the first leg in Nakawa on Friday before the second leg a week later.
In the other fixture, Nkumba who eliminated Kyambogo will travel to UMU in the first semifinal on Wednesday.
“ The difference this season is that we are more efficient infront of goal as well as having a solid backline,” Nkumba tutor and coach Patrick Ssebuliba said of the draw.
He boasts of arguably the best player in the competition and top scorer in Fred Gwoto who has eight goals to his name thus far. UMU will have their work cut out.
