CAF UNDER 20 QUALIFIERS
Saturday in Juba
S. Sudan vs. Uganda
(Uganda lead 5-1 on aggregate)
KAMPALA. Uganda Under-20 coach, Matia Lule says South Sudan will be difficult to break down in the Total 2019 U-20 Cup of Nations qualifiers return leg this weekend.
The Ugandan side will carry a 5-1 advantage in the reverse fixture, a thing that could make any coach relaxed but he is wary of a gritty South Sudan side that have nothing to lose. He remains upbeat that they will sail through to the next phase.
“Yes, we scored five goals in Lugogo but they are a decent team and at their home they will be difficult to break down as they will want to impress their fans,” Lule said.
Mustapha Kizza (penalty), Steven Mukwala, Sadam Masereka, Hamis Tibita and Allan Okello scored for the Uganda Hippos. Lule warned that they will not underrate their hosts, who played with two substitutes after nine of their players were expelled for being overage. South Sudan occasionally threatened through forward Peter Okech yet their goal keeper Ramadan Ding was impressive too. The Hippos leave for Juba on Friday.
The winner over two legs will meet Cameroon in the next month’s round. The first leg will be played at home on May 11 with the return leg away in Cameroon a week later.
For a player to be eligible, he must be born on or after January 1, 1999.
The final tournament will be played in Niger from February 24 to March 10, 2019.
