The sixth edition of the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) took place last Friday at Kampala Serena Hotel. The glamorous event included an award ceremony recognising works of different players in the industry as well as runway showcases from different designers. Among the models were celebrities who also walked on the runway writes, Esther Oluka.
Last Friday’s Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) was one of the biggest nights in the fashion industry, this year. The night brought together designers, models, media personalities, musicians, businessmen and women to celebrate nothing other than fashion.
The event kicked off with a red carpet affair where guests were subjected to interviews and photo-opportunities. Guests starting arriving by 5pm.
The runway showcases then started by 9.50pm. Designer Philip Buyi behind the fashion label Kkoolo kicked off the show with his showcase. Other designers who showcased during the night included Anita Beryl of Beryl Qouture, David Tlale (a South African designer) and Mai Atafo (a Nigerian designer).
It was, however, Alex Alecool, a Ugandan fashion designer based in London runway showcase that excited the crowd the most.
He used both the professional models and renowned celebrities to showcase his designs.
Some of the celebrities who walked for him included Sheila Gashumba and Bettinah Tinah, both media personalities, and Judith Heard (a socialite).
These celebrities brought a funside to the showcase with their playfulness and ability to get the crowd screaming.
Overall, the outfits by all the designers who showcased that night were sensational for instance Anita Beryl bridal collection was beautifully knit with the lace and sequins.
The event, which ended at about 2am, was indeed a remarkable night of celebrating fashion.

They are continental fashion awards presented annually in Uganda by Abryanz Collection to recognize excellence and outstanding achievement in the fashion industry in Uganda and Africa.
