Uganda is the only East African country that participated in the recently concluded Danish annual tourism and trade fair in Herning, Denmark.
Ms Nimisha Madhivani, Uganda’s head of mission to the Nordics said the Uganda stall was visited by over 3,000 guests during the Danish Ferie for ALLE tourism and trade fair between February 22 and 24, 2019.”
“At least 1,000 of those passed by the stall, took our brochures, asked questions, marvelled at the snow-capped Rwenzori, the Gorilla's pictures and tasted Uganda waragi ,” she said.

According to her, the event has potential for Uganda's tourism and trade.
“I urge Uganda Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and the Private Sector to attend the subsequent events,” said Ms Nimisha.
She said some guests who visited the Uganda stall had been to Uganda and shared great reviews for the safe investment, cultural and tourist destination.

“The event serves as a brilliant platform to attract potential investors from Denmark and Scandinavia to Uganda. Denmark and other Nordic countries are open to business with Uganda, but we need to play our part and give them even more information by exhibiting the various business opportunities, cultural and tourist attractions. Tourism, fishing, agriculture, small-scale industries, vocational training in education and sports need to be publicized and shared. DANIDA is a real partner of Uganda in all these sectors,” she added.
The deputy ambassador Elly Kamahungye was busy interacting with the visitors and ensured that all the Ambassadors present visited the stall with the Chairman of the Herning fair.

The Ugandan team added that there was need for the private sector to enhance the publicity on the tour packages and also to update the website database of Ugandan registered tour operators.
This is the second time Uganda has exhibited at the event.
The event attracts more than 80,000 exhibitors, travel and trade visitors from different parts of the world.
