KAMPALA- Phaneroo has won the sixth edition of the Inter- Church Basketball Coalition (ICBC) tournament that took place on Sunday at the YMCA Basketball Court in Wandegeya.

ICBC is an annual tournament aimed at spreading the gospel through the platform of basketball and uniting various youth fellowships from different churches with its core values of discipline, discipleship and devotion.

According to Rev Capt Gideon Mwesh, youth pastor and founding member of ICBC, on May 1 2013, a group of churches including All Saints Cathedral, Deliverance Church, Bugolobi Church, Raze Life Church and Full Gospel met at Bush Court along the Lugogo Bypass for what was then the first basketball tournament with the aim of connecting and enjoying basketball.

This formed the first ICBC tournament.
This edition attracted seven churches in the names of African gospel church Namuwongo, All saints’ cathedral Nakasero, Agape Christian center Ntinda, Bugolobi Church of Uganda, Deliverace church Makerere, Phaneroo Int Ministries, Watoto church and Our Savior Ministries.

At the end of the tournament,Phaneroo came out victorious after wins from Deliverance church, Bugolobi Church of Uganda and only lost to African Gospel church in group stages.

Phaneroo qualified for semis against All Saints Cathedral and then met African gospel church again in the finals where the tables turned in their favoUr to win the trophy.

Phaneroo was commended by Rev. Gideon for not only winning the trophy but also exhibiting the core values of discipline, discipleship and devotion throughout the tournament as he handled over the trophy to the Phaneroo vision bearer Apostle Grace Lubega.
