BOSTON. It started as an if, slipped quickly into when but now it’s happening.
Sharif ‘The Lion’ Bogere is scheduled to appear on a bigger platform everyone, including himself, has been waiting for.
Bogere, 32-1, will feature on one of the undercards when WBA welterweight champion Sen. Manny Pacquiao defends his title against Adrien Broner at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on January 2019.
Bogere’s manager Jimmy Alex broke the news exclusively to this reporter Monday night following a meeting he had with other parties involved. “We are yet to get his opponent but I can confirm to you right now that Bogere is going to fight on the Pacquaio against Broner undercard,” said Alex, who disclosed a little more about the fight.
“He will be fighting one of the top 10 guys in the lightweight division and we are still in talks whether it should be a title fight or not.”
Among the top 10 names in the division include WBC and IBF Champion Mickey Garcia, Luke Campbell, Richard Commey, Zaur Abdullaev, Javer Fortuna, Anthony Crolla, Yuan mendy, Edit Tatli Masayoshi Nakatami and Ray Beltran.
Since joining Mayweather Promotions in 2016, Bogere has been a hot property for the Las Vegas based promoter. Already this year, he has won both of his fights against Arturo Santos and Oscar Bravo respectively.
Bogere has got good exposure. He has seen it all especially given the fact that he resides in Las Vegas - Mecca of boxing. He has featured in big fights like World Boxing Organisation NABO lightweight title in 2011 against Francisco Contreras and World Boxing Association World lightweight title in 2013 against Richard Abril.
But none of the above is bigger than being on the undercard of the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing - Pacquiao.
